Your Recipe for Accessories this Winter
We know you love shopping for colorful sweaters, cozy coats, and knee-high boots, only to store them until the weather is cold enough to even consider wearing them. And that oversized sweater in the back of your closet? We know you’re just dying to slip it on and go shopping for more. Don’t feel bad…it’s not your fault that this Louisiana weather warrants little opportunity for winter style. But when winter hits, it hits hard (and may bring snow, if we dream hard enough). Sometimes we don’t know how to dress or what to accessorize with because we never thought we’d be able to wear them.
Don’t worry—we’re here to help.
While there is no “right or wrong” way to wear jewelry with your winter attire, we’ve compiled a list of tips to help you achieve maximum style this winter.
1.Don’t feel like your jewelry has to match your outfit. Wear a bright-colored piece of jewelry to accent your dark colors, or pull that bright-colored purse from your closet!
2. Strut your pearls! If you’re wearing a big coat, pearl studs are a simple accessory that won’t take away from the statement your coat is making.
3. If you’re breaking out the colorful scarf you’ve been saving just for this cold weather, either find some simple studs or match your earrings with a color on your scarf.
4. Or, if you’re looking to make a little bolder statement, gold hoops will always be in fashion. They aren’t as easily pulled as dangles are, and they
still offer a chic look! Small and medium sized hoops
are great if you’re looking to remain casual this winter.
5. Sometimes you’re just not in the mood for necklaces or earrings, or you’re afraid the weather may warrant extra layers. Never underestimate the power of a simple gold bangle. They’re simple enough to not take away from your attire, but they’re flashy enough
to add a little bling.
While Louisiana doesn’t bring massive cold weather like some of us may hope, when those cold fronts hit, it’s like a breath of fresh air. Remember that there’s always a way to accessorize and still keep warm. But if all else fails, grab a blanket and a cup of hot cocoa, cuddle up next to your loved ones, and enjoy the cold weather.
